Morning Notes

US Futures are pointing to a slightly higher open as markets await the outcome from the delayed vote on the new health care plan proposal. The price of crude is trading higher this morning by +.50% giving energy producing stocks a lift. OPEC is scheduled to meet with Kuwait to discuss measures in production cuts. European stocks are trading slightly lower in light activity while Asian stocks closed predominantly higher.

SPY Technicals

The SPY (NYSE:SPY) initially traded into positive territory early in yesterday’s session to then sell into the afternoon and close on the lows, the third consecutive close below the 20 EMA since the election. Support will lie at the low of yesterday’s range at $233.60, followed by $233.05, the 50 day moving average at $232.76, then $232.16, $231.77, and $230.62. Resistance will lie at the high of yesterday’s range at $235.34, followed by the 20 day EMA at $235.85, then $237.61, $237.97, $238.10, $239.20, $239.44, $239.57, and record highs at $240.32.
