Yesterday, I decided it was time to get serious about re-entering shorts in a sector that has been a favorite of mine this year – energy. Overnight, crude oil seems to have given back some of its “the Saudi Arabia trip was pointless” gains.

To be clear, I’m not short oil, nor have I bothered doing so at any point this year. I’m focused on energy companies. Thus, I am long puts the following equities:

XLF Calls have been good to me. I'm moving forward using ETF's (leveraged) for options trades. COP is a great company. HAL did a wow on earnings.

Can you tell us why you are short COP? Does the recent 25% downward swing not scare you or do you think there's more downward momentum remaining? What about all the oil and gas companies about to report all time record numbers later this month; does that not scare you a little bit?

Good moves. There is no end in sight to the war, so the demand should drop.
