Hartford Funds, a segment of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE:HIG), has total assets of $115.4 billion under management (as of Mar 31, 2018). The company claims to manage at least 55 mutual funds across a wide range of styles and asset classes. Hartford Financial Services was founded in 1810 and is a well-recognized insurance company in the United States.

Hartford Funds focuses on meeting and even exceeding “traditional industry benchmarks” through “human-centric investing.” The company believes that human-centric investing can help in creating solutions, products and advisor tools, which help in strengthening the bottom line and improving advisor-client relationships.

HFHAX maintains a diversified portfolio by investing in floating or variable rate loans and floating rate securities that are rated lower than investment grade. The fund also invests in high yield debt securities or fixed-rate loans, and fixed-rate instruments that have maturities of one year or lower. Hartford Floating Rate High Income A has returned 3.8% over the past year.

As of April 2018, HFHAX held 304 issues, with 2.68% of its assets invested in Caesars Entmt Operating Co Llc Term Loan B.

Hartford Municipal Opportunities A HHMAX invests a large chunk of its assets in municipal securities and around 35% of its assets in municipal securities that are non-rated investment grade. HHMAX seeks a high level of income that is free from federal income taxes. The fund also offers high returns for the long run. Hartford Municipal Opportunities A has returned 1.9% in a year.

Hartford Capital Appreciation HLS IA HIACX seeks capital growth. HIACX invests more than 65% of its assets in common stocks of large-, mid- and small-cap companies. The fund may also invest not more than 35% of its assets in equity securities of foreign companies. Hartford Capital Appreciation HLS IA has returned 13.4% in a year’s time.
