Canadian shopping mall closed, police raid house after threat

TORONTO (Reuters) - A shopping mall in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia was closed on Tuesday and police raided a nearby house in response to what they described as a threat, just weeks after an alleged mass shooting plot in Halifax was foiled.

Halifax police descended on the Mic Mac Mall in neighboring Dartmouth and then to the house after learning of the threat. A search of the house did not result in arrests and the police operation remains active, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said he could not immediately provide information on the nature of the threat.

Two schools, one near the mall and the other near the house, were prohibiting anyone from entering or leaving due to the threat, he added.

Last month, Halifax police said they had disrupted a plot in which at least two people allegedly planned to commit a mass shooting in Halifax on Valentine's Day.
