Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Insurance and Services sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.93%, while the ADX General index fell 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 7.00% or 0.036 points to trade at 0.550 at the close. Meanwhile, Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) added 4.26% or 0.020 points to end at 0.490 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 3.08% or 0.014 points to 0.469 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which fell 2.42% or 0.022 points to trade at 0.888 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 0.79% or 0.005 points to end at 0.625 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) was down 0.73% or 0.010 points to 1.360.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which rose 10.83% to 1.33, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was up 7.61% to settle at 0.99 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which gained 4.91% to close at 2.99.
The worst performers were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 6.45% to 1.45 in late trade, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which lost 3.23% to settle at 0.300 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 2.27% to 0.860 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 17 to 7 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 rose and 7 declined, while 6 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.51% or 0.58 to $38.90 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.45% or 0.58 to hit $40.63 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.75% or 9.20 to trade at $1237.80 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.44% to 4.1837.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 94.50.
