United Arab Emirates stocks mixed at close of trade; DFM General up 0.17%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Insurance sectors led shares higher while losses in the Transport, Consumer Staples and Banking sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.17%, while the ADX General index declined 0.83%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA), which rose 4.13% or 0.10 points to trade at 2.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) added 3.54% or 0.200 points to end at 5.850 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) was up 3.12% or 0.050 points to 1.600 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which fell 3.39% or 0.100 points to trade at 2.850 at the close. Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) declined 1.82% or 0.020 points to end at 1.080 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) was down 1.61% or 0.020 points to 1.220.

The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 1.89% to 0.540, Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was up 1.85% to settle at 5.50 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which gained 1.55% to close at 7.87.

The worst performers were Abd Nat Takafu (AD:TKFL) which was down 9.86% to 3.84 in late trade, Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which lost 9.62% to settle at 2.16 and Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which was down 8.66% to 1.16 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 14 to 10; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 fell and 6 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged.

Shares in Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.54% or 0.200 to 5.850. Shares in Abd Nat Takafu (AD:TKFL) fell to 3-years lows; falling 9.86% or 0.42 to 3.84. Shares in Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) fell to 3-years lows; falling 8.66% or 0.11 to 1.16.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.86% or 0.56 to $30.43 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.80% or 0.59 to hit $33.31 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.70 to trade at $1128.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.04% to 4.0120.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 98.67.
