Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 2.37% to hit a new 6-months low, while the ADX General index fell 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which rose 1.77% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.150 at the close. Meanwhile, AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) added 0.56% or 0.010 points to end at 1.810 and Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) was up 0.40% or 0.020 points to 5.030 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which fell 6.62% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.82 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 6.43% or 0.110 points to end at 1.600 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was down 6.00% or 0.030 points to 0.470.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which rose 2.86% to 2.88, Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was up 1.00% to settle at 5.00 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which gained 0.82% to close at 2.47.
The worst performers were Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 7.69% to 0.720 in late trade, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which lost 6.67% to settle at 0.420 and Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was down 4.00% to 0.480 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 23 to 4; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 17 fell and 4 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.23% or 0.10 to $43.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.16% or 0.07 to hit $47.84 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.00 to trade at $1092.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.14% to 3.9428.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 99.25.
