United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.68%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Finance & Investment and Insurance sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.68% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index declined 1.76%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 1.44% or 0.030 points to trade at 2.110 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 1.17% or 0.006 points to end at 0.520 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) was up 0.78% or 0.010 points to 1.290 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN), which fell 9.26% or 0.25 points to trade at 2.45 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 5.49% or 0.034 points to end at 0.585 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was down 4.41% or 0.12 points to 2.60.

The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which rose 13.75% to 0.910, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was up 2.32% to settle at 7.49 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 1.92% to close at 0.530.

The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 9.86% to 2.65 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which lost 6.00% to settle at 0.470 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 5.88% to 0.800 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 4 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 19 fell and 4 advanced, while 4 ended unchanged.

Shares in Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.44% or 0.030 to 2.110. Shares in National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN) fell to 5-year lows; down 9.26% or 0.25 to 2.45.

Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.91% or 0.92 to $47.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 2.29% or 1.12 to hit $47.81 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.55% or 19.70 to trade at $1254.70 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.16% to 4.1141.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.25.
