United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.05%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Telecoms and Insurance sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.05%, while the ADX General index declined 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 1.29% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.570 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 1.02% or 0.010 points to end at 0.990 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 0.67% or 0.010 points to 1.510 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 6.48% or 0.190 points to trade at 2.740 at the close. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 2.72% or 0.014 points to end at 0.500 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was down 2.50% or 0.070 points to 2.730.

The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which rose 3.70% to 3.080, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 1.20% to settle at 0.840 and Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which gained 0.25% to close at 19.90.

The worst performers were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 5.95% to 0.7900 in late trade, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which lost 4.88% to settle at 5.46 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 2.33% to 6.28 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 26 to 9 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 fell and 6 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged.

Shares in Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.88% or 0.28 to 5.46.

Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.57% or 0.25 to $43.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.41 to hit $46.26 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.85 to trade at $1324.25 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.05% to 4.1291.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.38.
