Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Transport, Finance & Investment and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.43%, while the ADX General index lost 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 3.04% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.610 at the close. Meanwhile, Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) added 2.22% or 0.012 points to end at 0.552 and Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) was up 2.11% or 0.110 points to 5.320 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which fell 3.86% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.648 at the close. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) declined 1.95% or 0.030 points to end at 1.540 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was down 1.81% or 0.050 points to 2.720.
The top performers on the ADX General were Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which rose 3.33% to 0.620, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 2.86% to settle at 1.08 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 2.17% to close at 0.460.
The worst performers were Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was down 10.00% to 5.67 in late trade, Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which lost 6.47% to settle at 1.59 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 4.29% to 0.670 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 14 to 12; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 13 fell and 7 advanced, while 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.47% or 0.11 to 1.59. Shares in Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) fell to all time lows; falling 4.29% or 0.030 to 0.670.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.37% or 0.22 to $60.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.23% or 0.14 to hit $63.63 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1173.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.00% to 4.1157.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.44.
