Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.25%, while the ADX General index lost 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN), which rose 11.61% or 0.260 points to trade at 2.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) added 1.82% or 0.150 points to end at 8.370 and Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) was up 1.69% or 1.10 points to 66.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which fell 1.94% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.505 at the close. Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) declined 1.80% or 0.030 points to end at 1.640 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was down 1.68% or 0.010 points to 0.585.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which rose 2.40% to 3.840, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was up 1.79% to settle at 0.570 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 1.67% to close at 0.610.
The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 4.84% to 2.750 in late trade, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which lost 3.57% to settle at 0.8100 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 2.38% to 0.8200 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 25 to 8 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 13 fell and 8 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.82% or 0.38 to $45.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.03% or 0.50 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1316.85 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.03% to 4.0911.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.09.
