United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 2.79%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Telecoms and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 2.79%, while the ADX General index added 2.13%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR), which rose 6.09% or 0.310 points to trade at 5.400 at the close. Meanwhile, SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 4.35% or 0.015 points to end at 0.360 and Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) was up 4.27% or 0.10 points to 2.44 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which fell 1.27% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.780 at the close. National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 3.500 and Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 85.00.

The top performers on the ADX General were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which rose 6.46% to 5.44, Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which was up 4.80% to settle at 2.40 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which gained 4.76% to close at 0.880.

The worst performers were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 2.06% to 0.95 in late trade, Methaq (AD:METH) which lost 1.85% to settle at 0.530 and Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which was down 1.41% to 3.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 27 to 1; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 18 rose and 4 declined, while 5 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.67% or 0.21 to $32.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.04% or 0.01 to hit $35.02 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.53% or 6.10 to trade at $1147.40 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.63% to 4.1056.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 96.69.
