Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Banking and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.25%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 6.25% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) added 2.01% or 0.015 points to end at 0.760 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.82% or 0.020 points to 1.120 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which fell 2.03% or 0.080 points to trade at 3.870 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) declined 1.49% or 0.020 points to end at 1.320 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was down 1.37% or 0.040 points to 2.880.
The top performers on the ADX General were Buhaira Nat In (AD:ABNI) which rose 3.38% to 2.450, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was up 2.41% to settle at 0.8500 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 2.17% to close at 0.940.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 5.26% to 0.360 in late trade, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which lost 4.81% to settle at 6.14 and National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 1.91% to 4.610 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 16 to 9 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 fell and 9 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.81% or 0.31 to 6.14.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.56% or 0.24 to $42.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.22% or 0.10 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.89% or 11.95 to trade at $1358.65 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.57% to 4.1069.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.65% at 95.44.
