Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LONDON:BDEV), which rose 3.29% or 21.000 points to trade at 659.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group PLC (LONDON:AHT) added 2.78% or 27.50 points to end at 1018.00 and Inmarsat PLC (LONDON:ISA) was up 2.44% or 25.00 points to 1048.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 7.84% or 11.3000 points to trade at 132.9000 at the close. BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) declined 5.95% or 67.00 points to end at 1060.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LONDON:STAN) was down 4.09% or 30.400 points to 713.600.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1599 to 573 and 406 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.83% or 9.20 to $1111.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.44% or 1.52 to hit $45.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.39% or 1.14 to trade at $48.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.58% to 1.5456, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7293.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.54.
