Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA), which rose 2.81% or 12.900 points to trade at 472.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 2.53% or 86.00 points to end at 3483.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 2.48% or 46.00 points to 1903.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which fell 12.80% or 97.70 points to trade at 665.70 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 8.04% or 13.1000 points to end at 149.8000 and Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN) was down 7.37% or 22.00 points to 276.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1359 to 815 and 413 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.51% or 6.60 to $1289.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.90% or 1.30 to hit $43.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.14% or 0.98 to trade at $44.85 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.84% to 1.4550, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 92.84.
