Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Food Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 6.44% or 14.30 points to trade at 236.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) added 3.31% or 11.60 points to end at 362.60 and Aviva PLC (LON:AV) was up 1.90% or 8.500 points to 455.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which fell 2.71% or 4.00 points to trade at 143.70 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.65% or 20.50 points to end at 754.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was down 2.54% or 8.70 points to 333.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1506 to 808 and 415 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.08% or 0.95 to $1254.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.26% or 0.64 to hit $50.15 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.50 to trade at $51.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.67% to 1.2205, while EUR/GBP fell 0.97% to 0.9030.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 97.92.
