Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Engineering and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 4.77% or 315.00 points to trade at 6925.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 1.73% or 21.00 points to end at 1233.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was up 1.49% or 5.3500 points to 364.8500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which fell 3.81% or 38.00 points to trade at 960.00 at the close. Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) declined 3.06% or 67.00 points to end at 2124.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 2.95% or 18.60 points to 612.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1795 to 359 and 356 ended unchanged.

Gold for August delivery was up 1.74% or 22.45 to $1310.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.54% or 1.70 to hit $46.31 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 1.76 to trade at $47.21 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.68% to 1.4110, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 95.25.
