Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which rose 2.54% or 1.3700 points to trade at 55.2400 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 2.50% or 27.000 points to end at 1105.000 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was up 1.30% or 2.50 points to 194.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which fell 2.96% or 5.8000 points to trade at 190.4000 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 2.54% or 4.00 points to end at 153.30 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was down 2.05% or 22.00 points to 1053.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1143 to 898 and 503 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.69% or 9.35 to $1347.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.27 to trade at $50.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.90% to 1.3051, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.54.
