Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Automobiles & Parts and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 declined 1.10% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Randgold Resources (LONDON:RRS), which rose 0.41% or 19.00 points to trade at 4626.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tesco (LONDON:TSCO) added 0.14% or 0.30 points to end at 214.00 and Compass Group (LONDON:CPG) was up 0.09% or 1.00 points to 1115.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taylor Wimpey Plc (LONDON:TW), which fell 2.86% or 5.40 points to trade at 183.40 at the close. Imperial Tobacco Group (LONDON:IMT) declined 2.85% or 93.00 points to end at 3175.00 and TUI AG (LONDON:TUIT) was down 2.82% or 34.00 points to 1171.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 2110 to 489 and 454 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.81% or 9.60 to $1188.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.51% or 0.31 to hit $60.09 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.54 to trade at $64.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.5569, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.7232.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.26.
