Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 lost 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Prudential PLC (LONDON:PRU), which rose 4.68% or 70.50 points to trade at 1577.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) added 1.51% or 20.0 points to end at 1344.0 and Inmarsat PLC (LONDON:ISA) was up 0.98% or 9.50 points to 977.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 7.26% or 14.95 points to trade at 191.00 at the close. BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) declined 5.00% or 60.50 points to end at 1148.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LONDON:BRBY) was down 4.42% or 71.00 points to 1536.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1757 to 787 and 502 ended unchanged.
Shares in Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) fell to all time lows; falling 7.26% or 14.95 to 191.00.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.33% or 3.60 to $1107.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.91% or 1.76 to hit $43.20 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.93% or 1.50 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.17% to 1.5565, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.7092.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.27.
