Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Carnival (LONDON:CCL), which rose 3.72% or 108.00 points to trade at 3011.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sabmiller (LONDON:SAB) added 3.65% or 124.50 points to end at 3531.00 and Aberdeen Asset Management Plc (LONDON:ADN) was up 3.29% or 14.20 points to 445.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LONDON:MRW), which fell 6.55% or 12.40 points to trade at 176.90 at the close. Glaxosmithkline (LONDON:GSK) declined 4.46% or 67.50 points to end at 1447.00 and Anglo American (LONDON:AAL) was down 4.03% or 46.50 points to 1107.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1465 to 1151 and 442 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.66% or 7.90 to $1182.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.12% or 1.29 to hit $59.64 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.06% or 1.40 to trade at $66.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.19% to 1.5219, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7413.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 94.71.
