Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were EasyJet PLC (LONDON:EZJ), which rose 1.80% or 30.00 points to trade at 1698.00 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LONDON:ICAG) added 1.61% or 9.00 points to end at 567.00 and Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) was up 1.47% or 16.00 points to 1102.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LONDON:RMG), which fell 3.51% or 18.50 points to trade at 508.50 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LONDON:RRS) declined 2.01% or 82.00 points to end at 4004.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LONDON:FRES) was down 1.57% or 10.50 points to 658.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1296 to 1234 and 531 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.09% or 12.50 to $1131.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.82% or 0.42 to hit $50.49 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.07 to trade at $56.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.5626, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.6942.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 98.00.
