Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 declined 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Carnival (LONDON:CCL), which rose 2.27% or 70.00 points to trade at 3147.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ITV Plc (LONDON:ITV) added 1.83% or 4.70 points to end at 262.00 and Compass Group (LONDON:CPG) was up 1.77% or 20.00 points to 1147.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore Xstrata Plc (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 1.81% or 5.40 points to trade at 293.30 at the close. Anglo American (LONDON:AAL) declined 1.80% or 20.00 points to end at 1090.50 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) was down 1.77% or 25.0 points to 1391.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1506 to 1104 and 427 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.18% or 2.20 to $1223.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.73% or 0.44 to hit $59.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.14 to trade at $66.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.5770, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7248.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 93.36.
