Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 3.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LONDON:ANTO), which rose 8.72% or 46.50 points to trade at 579.50 at the close. Meanwhile, London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LONDON:LSE) added 6.96% or 165.00 points to end at 2536.00 and St. James`s Place PLC (LONDON:SJP) was up 6.40% or 55.00 points to 914.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources Ltd (LONDON:RRS), which fell 3.54% or 147.00 points to trade at 4001.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LONDON:FRES) declined 0.70% or 4.50 points to end at 639.50 and Royal Mail PLC (LONDON:RMG) was down 0.28% or 1.30 points to 459.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 2305 to 447 and 363 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.54% or 17.80 to $1135.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.22% or 1.23 to hit $39.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.60% or 0.69 to trade at $43.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.5700, while EUR/GBP fell 1.29% to 0.7271.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.34% at 94.63.
