Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.35% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 8.58% or 63.90 points to trade at 808.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) added 7.81% or 106.00 points to end at 1464.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 7.72% or 28.800 points to 402.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which fell 1.50% or 11.00 points to trade at 724.00 at the close. Shire PLC (LON:SHP) declined 0.47% or 23.00 points to end at 4818.00 and Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) was down 0.46% or 6.00 points to 1304.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1858 to 312 and 373 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.25 to $1359.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.99% or 0.45 to hit $44.96 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.46 to trade at $46.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.29% to 1.2990, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8507.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 96.64.
