Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 5.48% or 10.80 points to trade at 207.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 5.20% or 89.00 points to end at 1802.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was up 4.36% or 335.00 points to 8015.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA), which fell 1.94% or 11.400 points to trade at 577.300 at the close. Informa Plc (LON:INF) declined 1.30% or 9.50 points to end at 721.00 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was down 1.07% or 56.00 points to 5189.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1494 to 683 and 417 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was up 1.16% or 15.45 to $1346.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.36% or 1.07 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.82% or 0.85 to trade at $47.68 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.3086, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8580.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.16.
