Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.85%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Weir Group PLC (LONDON:WEIR), which rose 4.85% or 60.00 points to trade at 1298.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ARM Holdings PLC (LONDON:ARM) added 3.43% or 32.50 points to end at 980.50 and SABMiller PLC (LONDON:SAB) was up 2.76% or 81.00 points to 3014.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kingfisher PLC (LONDON:KGF), which fell 2.50% or 9.00 points to trade at 351.30 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LONDON:VOD) declined 1.27% or 2.8000 points to end at 218.4500 and Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) was down 1.15% or 14.00 points to 1201.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1161 to 976 and 455 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.40% or 4.40 to $1103.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.95% or 0.86 to hit $44.86 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $47.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.5351, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.7340.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 95.79.
