Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.63% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL), which rose 7.23% or 49.00 points to trade at 726.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) added 7.00% or 8.4500 points to end at 129.1000 and Standard Chartered PLC (LONDON:STAN) was up 5.08% or 38.000 points to 786.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sports Direct International PLC (LONDON:SPD), which fell 6.63% or 49.000 points to trade at 690.000 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LONDON:PSN) declined 2.84% or 57.00 points to end at 1947.00 and Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) was down 2.34% or 29.00 points to 1212.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1359 to 773 and 490 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.21% or 13.80 to $1158.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.71% or 0.35 to hit $49.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.21 to trade at $52.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.19% to 1.5319, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.7422.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 94.86.
