Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 4.27% or 9.15 points to trade at 223.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.16% or 51.00 points to end at 1665.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.87% or 18.800 points to 673.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which fell 5.98% or 21.70 points to trade at 341.10 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 5.27% or 12.900 points to end at 232.000 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was down 5.01% or 25.300 points to 479.700.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1340 to 978 and 429 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.85 to $1251.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.82% or 0.92 to hit $49.52 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.96% or 1.03 to trade at $51.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.55% to 1.2422, while EUR/GBP rose 1.63% to 0.8982.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 96.83.
