Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Food & Drug Retailers and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.62% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LONDON:FRES), which rose 4.22% or 28.50 points to trade at 704.50 at the close. Meanwhile, BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) added 3.34% or 37.00 points to end at 1145.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LONDON:BRBY) was up 2.54% or 37.000 points to 1492.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inmarsat PLC (LONDON:ISA), which fell 3.74% or 36.50 points to trade at 939.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) declined 2.70% or 3.3500 points to end at 120.6500 and Weir Group PLC (LONDON:WEIR) was down 2.57% or 36.00 points to 1367.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1134 to 979 and 486 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.48% or 5.50 to $1143.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.18% or 1.52 to hit $49.33 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.11% or 1.59 to trade at $52.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.5318, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.7362.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.44.
