Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.49% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL), which rose 4.26% or 24.70 points to trade at 604.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LONDON:RDSb) added 3.55% or 60.5 points to end at 1766.5 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LONDON:RDSa) was up 3.34% or 56.50 points to 1746.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LONDON:HIK), which fell 4.44% or 105.00 points to trade at 2260.00 at the close. SABMiller PLC (LONDON:SAB) declined 3.77% or 142.00 points to end at 3622.00 and EasyJet PLC (LONDON:EZJ) was down 2.65% or 48.000 points to 1760.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1373 to 777 and 442 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.89% or 10.10 to $1147.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.32% or 2.00 to hit $48.26 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 4.96% or 2.44 to trade at $51.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.51% to 1.5224, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.7400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.66% at 95.59.
