Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.42% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 6.81% or 27.600 points to trade at 432.900 at the close. Meanwhile, ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 6.76% or 12.50 points to end at 197.30 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 6.69% or 9.70 points to 154.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which fell 3.03% or 80.00 points to trade at 2561.00 at the close. GKN PLC (LON:GKN) declined 1.69% or 5.10 points to end at 295.90 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was down 1.55% or 62.00 points to 3946.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1419 to 645 and 459 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.43% or 5.75 to $1334.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.17% or 0.93 to hit $41.99 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.39% or 1.08 to trade at $44.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.14% to 1.3114, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8381.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.31.
