Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which rose 3.29% or 78.500 points to trade at 2467.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.21% or 5.7500 points to end at 185.0000 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was up 3.15% or 33.00 points to 1080.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN), which fell 1.12% or 56.00 points to trade at 4955.00 at the close. Shire PLC (LON:SHP) declined 1.06% or 52.00 points to end at 4850.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was down 0.97% or 13.000 points to 1320.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1216 to 842 and 509 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1324.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $47.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.29 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.3142, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8541.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 95.21.
