Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which rose 14.73% or 288.00 points to trade at 2243.00 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 3.97% or 16.10 points to end at 422.10 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 3.96% or 14.80 points to 389.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which fell 7.70% or 66.50 points to trade at 797.00 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 3.31% or 33.00 points to end at 964.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was down 2.36% or 31.000 points to 1285.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1245 to 890 and 427 ended unchanged.
Shares in Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO) rose to all time highs; up 14.73% or 288.00 to 2243.00.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.52% or 7.05 to $1342.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.74% or 1.70 to hit $47.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.48% or 1.67 to trade at $49.65 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.28% to 1.3302, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8460.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 95.03.
