Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LONDON:LSE), which rose 3.64% or 88.00 points to trade at 2507.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) added 2.71% or 33.00 points to end at 1251.00 and BP PLC (LONDON:BP) was up 2.47% or 8.2500 points to 342.2500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrica PLC (LONDON:CNA), which fell 3.36% or 7.70 points to trade at 221.50 at the close. WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LONDON:MRW) declined 2.71% or 4.50 points to end at 161.60 and Tesco PLC (LONDON:TSCO) was down 2.70% or 4.9500 points to 178.2500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1210 to 951 and 416 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.40 to $1114.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.35% or 0.16 to hit $44.93 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.54 to trade at $47.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.18% to 1.5155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.7390.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 96.16.
