Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Construction & Materials and General Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which rose 2.01% or 10.50 points to trade at 532.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 1.98% or 67.00 points to end at 3446.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 1.68% or 16.00 points to 971.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which fell 2.73% or 17.20 points to trade at 612.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 2.52% or 11.30 points to end at 436.60 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was down 2.10% or 23.00 points to 1075.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1083 to 889 and 515 ended unchanged.

Gold for June delivery was down 0.61% or 7.50 to $1212.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.46% or 0.23 to hit $49.25 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.75% or 0.37 to trade at $49.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.18% to 1.4644, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7603.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 95.52.
