Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LONDON:VOD), which rose 4.64% or 11.25 points to trade at 253.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Travis Perkins (LONDON:TPK) added 1.47% or 32.00 points to end at 2208.00 and Dixons Carphone (LONDON:DC) was up 1.41% or 6.50 points to 468.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG), which fell 2.08% or 11.50 points to trade at 542.50 at the close. TUI AG (LONDON:TUIT) declined 1.99% or 24.00 points to end at 1180.00 and BT Group (LONDON:BT) was down 1.76% or 8.10 points to 451.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1498 to 1107 and 434 ended unchanged.

Gold for June delivery was up 0.16% or 1.90 to $1206.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.58% or 0.96 to hit $59.76 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.72% or 1.15 to trade at $65.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.14% to 1.5482, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.7127.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.69% at 96.12.
