Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Food & Beverages and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 2.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Besiktas Futbol Yat. (IS:BJKAS), which rose 6.28% or 0.30 points to trade at 5.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Tumosan Motor Ve Traktor (IS:TMSN) added 4.72% or 0.360 points to end at 7.980 and Petkim (IS:PETKM) was up 3.29% or 0.130 points to 4.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coca Cola Icecek (IS:CCOLA), which fell 7.95% or 3.14 points to trade at 36.36 at the close. Koza Altin (IS:KOZAL) declined 6.31% or 1.07 points to end at 15.90 and Turkcell (IS:TCELL) was down 6.03% or 0.71 points to 11.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 268 to 94 and 49 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.84% or 10.85 to $1280.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.48% or 0.21 to hit $43.86 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.10 to trade at $44.87 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.25% to 2.8843, while EUR/TRY rose 1.20% to 3.3156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 93.26.
