Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Electricity and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Izmir Demir Celik (IS:IZMDC), which rose 10.70% or 0.260 points to trade at 2.690 at the close. Meanwhile, Netas Telekomunikasyon AS (IS:NETAS) added 4.64% or 0.39 points to end at 8.79 and Bizim Magazalari (IS:BIZIM) was up 3.38% or 0.48 points to 14.67 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Park Elek. Madencilik (IS:PRKME), which fell 7.05% or 0.160 points to trade at 2.110 at the close. Vakif Gmyo (IS:VKGYO) declined 5.49% or 0.130 points to end at 2.240 and Bagfas (IS:BAGFS) was down 4.26% or 0.50 points to 11.23.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 243 to 102 and 57 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.38% or 5.15 to $1351.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.96% or 0.84 to hit $41.93 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.80% or 0.81 to trade at $44.17 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.40% to 2.9555, while EUR/TRY rose 0.08% to 3.3024.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.64.
