Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Cement, Auto and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were San Chih (TW:3579), which rose 9.97% or 1.45 points to trade at 16.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bright Led (TW:3031) added 9.96% or 0.79 points to end at 8.72 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) was up 9.91% or 0.43 points to 4.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.84% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.10 at the close. China Tv (TW:9928) declined 7.63% or 0.45 points to end at 5.45 and Hota Ind (TW:1536) was down 3.62% or 5.50 points to 146.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 562 to 177 and 116 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; falling 9.84% or 0.12 to 1.10.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.13% or 0.55 to $49.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.16% or 0.57 to hit $49.74 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.59% or 7.65 to trade at $1287.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.45% to 32.230, while TWD/CNY rose 0.44% to 0.2046.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 93.78.
