Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Plantations and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 13.59% or 43.50 points to trade at 363.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) added 6.67% or 0.100 points to end at 1.600 and Nuwara Eliya Hotels Co PLC (CM:NEH) was up 6.16% or 89.90 points to 1549.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which fell 12.50% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) declined 11.97% or 6.80 points to end at 50.00 and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) was down 11.90% or 7.50 points to 55.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 119 to 46 and 63 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $50.82 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $52.53 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.65 to trade at $1256.55 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.38% to 180.705, while USD/LKR rose 0.23% to 147.195.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.78.
