Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Healthcare and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.34% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which rose 80.00% or 0.800 points to trade at 1.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) added 13.50% or 6.40 points to end at 53.80 and Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) was up 13.33% or 0.200 points to 1.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW), which fell 7.51% or 48.70 points to trade at 600.00 at the close. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC (CM:MAL) declined 6.67% or 0.200 points to end at 2.800 and Multi Finance PLC (CM:MULT) was down 5.88% or 0.90 points to 14.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 107 to 67 and 57 ended unchanged.
Shares in Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 80.00% or 0.800 to 1.800.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.33% or 0.58 to $44.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.22% or 0.56 to hit $46.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.53% or 6.95 to trade at $1317.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.67% to 190.315, while USD/LKR rose 0.55% to 146.205.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 95.86.
