Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Banking, Financials & Insurance and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Meanwhile, Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) added 15.11% or 10.50 points to end at 80.00 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was up 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which fell 13.88% or 226.90 points to trade at 1408.10 at the close. Ceylon and Foreign Trades PLC (CM:CFT) declined 11.29% or 0.70 points to end at 5.50 and Mackwoods Energy PLC (CM:MWEL) was down 9.38% or 0.300 points to 2.900.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 100 to 59 and 45 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.71% or 0.37 to $51.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.33% or 0.18 to hit $54.76 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.33% or 3.85 to trade at $1172.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.13% to 188.825, while USD/LKR fell 0.18% to 148.135.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 100.12.
