Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Beverages & Tobacco and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.24% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 12.56% or 9.70 points to trade at 86.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) added 11.53% or 6.80 points to end at 65.80 and Palm Garden Hotels PLC (CM:PALM) was up 10.87% or 3.50 points to 35.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which fell 11.11% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) declined 7.14% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) was down 5.56% or 0.100 points to 1.700.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 95 to 68 and 61 ended unchanged.
Shares in Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 11.11% or 0.100 to 0.800.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.65% or 0.29 to $45.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.49% or 0.23 to hit $47.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.25% or 3.25 to trade at $1326.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.38% to 191.895, while USD/LKR rose 0.11% to 145.490.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.52.
