Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Trading, Construction & Engineering and Footwear & Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Maskeliya Plantations PLC (CM:MASK), which rose 18.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 11.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) added 16.67% or 0.20 points to end at 1.40 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) was up 12.08% or 3.20 points to 29.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which fell 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 at the close. Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) declined 20.65% or 309.80 points to end at 1190.20 and PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH) was down 11.11% or 0.10 points to 0.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 183 to 41 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) fell to 52-week lows; losing 20.65% or 309.80 to 1190.20.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.67% or 0.31 to $45.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.44% or 0.22 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.20 to trade at $1119.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.29% to 212.080, while USD/LKR fell 0.41% to 137.750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 96.25.
