Sri Lanka stocks higher at close of trade; CSE All-Share up 0.15%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Services and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.15%.

The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC (CM:DPL), which rose 17.74% or 1.10 points to trade at 7.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Lankem Developments PLC (CM:LDEV) added 15.79% or 0.60 points to end at 4.40 and Lanka Aluminium Industries PLC (CM:LALU) was up 14.65% or 9.20 points to 72.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Taprobane Holdings PLC (CM:TAPR), which fell 18.18% or 1.00 points to trade at 4.50 at the close. People`s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) declined 11.11% or 1.50 points to end at 12.00 and Lake House Printers and Publishers PLC (CM:LPRT) was down 10.11% or 11.30 points to 100.50.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 118 to 54 and 54 ended unchanged.

Shares in Lake House Printers and Publishers PLC (CM:LPRT) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.11% or 11.30 to 100.50.

Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.75% or 0.67 to $38.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.38% or 0.55 to hit $40.40 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.13% or 1.60 to trade at $1239.10 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 0.01% to 211.650, while USD/LKR fell 0.66% to 147.140.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 94.92.
