Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL), which rose 11.00% or 2.20 points to trade at 22.20 at the close. Meanwhile, EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) added 9.99% or 124.90 points to end at 1375.00 and J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI) was up 9.86% or 35.90 points to 400.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which fell 21.74% or 361.20 points to trade at 1300.00 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) declined 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Ramboda Falls PLC (CM:RFLL) was down 8.33% or 2.30 points to 25.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 104 to 88 and 47 ended unchanged.
Shares in Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) fell to 52-week lows; falling 21.74% or 361.20 to 1300.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.56% or 0.24 to $43.26 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.35% or 0.16 to hit $45.55 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.95 to trade at $1339.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.32% to 189.685, while USD/LKR fell 0.02% to 145.600.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 96.31.
