Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.78%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols (MADRID:GRLS), which rose 0.97% or 0.367 points to trade at 38.117 at the close. Meanwhile, Ferrovial (MADRID:FER) added 0.81% or 0.175 points to end at 21.835 and Int.Airl.Grp (MADRID:ICAG) was up 0.34% or 0.027 points to 7.994 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tecnicas Reunidas (MADRID:TRE), which fell 7.05% or 3.065 points to trade at 40.420 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MADRID:MTS) declined 3.76% or 0.250 points to end at 6.391 and Telefonica (MADRID:TEF) was down 3.61% or 0.443 points to 11.812.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 159 to 50 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Arcel. Mittal (MADRID:MTS) fell to all time lows; losing 3.76% or 0.250 to 6.391.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.75% or 8.30 to $1110.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.65% or 1.17 to hit $45.32 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 0.83 to trade at $48.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1263, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7294.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 95.60.
