Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols (MADRID:GRLS), which rose 4.76% or 1.830 points to trade at 40.295 at the close. Meanwhile, Amadeus IT (MADRID:AMA) added 1.30% or 0.510 points to end at 39.860 and Telefonica (MADRID:TEF) was up 0.53% or 0.072 points to 13.832 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gamesa (MADRID:GAM), which fell 9.76% or 1.600 points to trade at 14.790 at the close. Mediaset ESP (MADRID:TL5) declined 9.25% or 1.165 points to end at 11.425 and Abengoa B (MADRID:ABGek) was down 6.78% or 0.147 points to 2.020.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 137 to 65 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.00 to $1089.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.16% or 0.09 to trade at $53.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.77% to 1.0899, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.7001.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 97.86.
