Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (MC:MAP), which rose 2.03% or 0.045 points to trade at 2.260 at the close. Meanwhile, Inditex (MC:ITX) added 1.62% or 0.455 points to end at 28.490 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) was up 1.58% or 0.16 points to 10.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which fell 3.79% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.285 at the close. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 1.99% or 0.037 points to end at 1.822 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was down 1.70% or 0.084 points to 4.863.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 111 to 92 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.19% or 2.50 to $1293.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.57% or 1.18 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.02% or 1.43 to trade at $45.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1512, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.7853.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 92.69.
